10th February 2012

Hi, My name is Carole Fabian and I am writing to you again on behalf of the Central Coast Truck Show, but before I go further, I must apologise for the very long delay in posting this letter. I will explain the reasons a little later, but for now, I want to say a really big Thank You to the Entrants, Sponsors, Trade Stall Holders, Participants and all their Families for your Support. We hope you all had a wonderful Day.
Unfortunately I will not be announcing the date for this years Central Coast Truck Show because there will not be one. We have thought long and hard over this decision hence the lateness of this letter.
Dallas has been running the show for the last 4 years almost single handed, other than some family and some close friends, there has been little help. We do get plenty of help on the day and we are very grateful for that, but we also needed people finding and chasing sponsors, keeping on them to make sure their promises aren’t just a load of hot air. We also needed people out getting commitments from manufactures and retail stores for goods to be donated to be auctioned at the show. We also needed others out getting as much publicity as possible and so very much more. We have received many promises, but that’s all they have been. Promises.
Dallas first decided to take on the Show when the person who had been running it decided she wanted to retire, he couldn’t bare to see the Truck Show fold so he and a couple other guys decided to take it on, but as the years progressed the others suddenly became too busy and Dallas was left with the lot. He did 3 more years after that but has got fed up with people promising the world and coming up with nothing.
We decided to change to another local radio station who have been trying to get the Central Coast Truck Show on their station for a couple of years, so we decided to go with them after discovering the radio station we had been with for 3 years seemed more interested in promoting and supporting themselves by among other things, selling their own raffle tickets at the Truck Show.
We had a radio commercial made and Dallas was offered a really good package deal by the new station, (so it seemed) if he purchased a number of adds they would throw in the same number for free. They referred to these as “Filler Spots” as they were to be used to fill in gaps in their daily programming. Dallas was not given a full copy of the schedule (Even though it was requested many times) until after the event where we found they had used these filler spots alright, around the times of 1am, 2am, 3am etc. Only a few were actually aired in prime time.
There are many other examples where we feel we have not been given a fair go, such as “MACk” the transporter out of the Disney-Pixar movie “CARS” (We were so delighted to have him there), we were one of the first events to have “MACK” on display even though it cost us a LOT of money to get him there. When “MACK” was delivered he was put in place, locked up and left filty dirty (not washed and looking his best as promised).
When all said and done, it’s the “CHILDREN” who are the losers because without a lot more help we are unable to raise the money needed for our Charity, The Children’s Cancer Institute Australia.
On top of all these problems associated with the show, Dallas would still love to continue with it, maybe next year, if we can find enough help,  we can bring the Central Coast Truck Show back BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER!
Carole Fabian - For and on Behalf of the Central Coast Truck Show.
P.S: Dallas is also very busy at the moment as he and his lovely wife Katie are expecting the birth of their first child at the end of March.
